Elevated Haze Has Always Avoided Synthetic Kratom Products
Elevated Haze did not build its kratom collection around synthetic alkaloids, semi-synthetic 7-OH products, pseudoindoxyl, MGM-15, MGM-16, or whatever unfamiliar replacement might appear next.
Our position has always been simple:
Kratom products should remain connected to the kratom plant.
That means focusing on traditional leaf, full-spectrum extracts, naturally occurring alkaloid profiles, clear labeling, relevant laboratory testing, and products that consumers can actually understand.
The DEA’s current action targets elevated or synthesized 7-OH products and the related substances mitragynine pseudoindoxyl, MGM-15, and MGM-16. The agency has specifically stated that the action does not apply to botanical kratom containing naturally occurring 7-OH below its specified threshold.
Because we always avoided the synthetic side of the market, we are not scrambling to replace one restricted compound with another.
Instead, we are expanding the cleaner, plant-centered side of our kratom collection so consumers still have measured and convenient options.
This Is Not About Turning Fear Into a Sale
Yes, Elevated Haze sells kratom products.
But this page is not about exploiting uncertainty or convincing every visitor that they need a new tablet.
Some people should not use concentrated kratom extracts. Some current users may need professional help rather than another product. Some people may decide that kratom is no longer right for them.
Our responsibility is to explain what we carry, what the testing shows, what the risks are, and where the limits of our knowledge begin.
We would rather lose a sale than tell someone that a full-spectrum tablet is a guaranteed replacement for concentrated 7-OH.
It is not the same product, and it may not feel the same.
For People Who Do Not Use Kratom: What Is It?
Kratom’s botanical name is Mitragyna speciosa. It is a tropical tree native to Southeast Asia and belongs to the Rubiaceae plant family—the same botanical family as coffee. That does not mean kratom is simply another form of coffee, but the plants are botanical relatives.
Kratom leaves have a long history of traditional use in Southeast Asia. The plant contains dozens of naturally occurring alkaloids, with mitragynine receiving the most scientific attention. Kratom’s chemistry is complicated: its compounds can interact with opioid receptors as well as serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, and other systems. Effects can vary substantially based on the plant material, extract concentration, serving size, personal tolerance, and other substances used at the same time.
In the modern United States market, kratom may be sold as:
- Leaf powder
- Capsules
- Tea
- Liquid extracts
- Shots
- Gummies
- Chewable or scored tablets
Those products are not automatically equivalent. A traditional leaf capsule and a tablet containing a concentrated isolated alkaloid may both be placed on a “kratom” shelf while having dramatically different chemical profiles.
That difference is one reason consumers became confused—and one reason families may not understand what their loved one was actually taking.
Is Kratom Safe?
The honest answer is that kratom is not risk-free.
Kratom may cause tolerance, physical dependence, cravings, and withdrawal symptoms with frequent or heavy use. Reported adverse effects include nausea, constipation, sedation, rapid heart rate, seizures, liver injury, and substance-use problems. The FDA has also warned about contaminated products containing Salmonella or concerning levels of heavy metals.
Serious outcomes have been reported. In deaths associated with kratom, other drugs were usually also present, making kratom’s exact contribution difficult to determine—but that does not mean combinations are safe.
Kratom has not been approved by the FDA to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. It should not be marketed as an approved treatment for pain, anxiety, opioid withdrawal, depression, or addiction.
At the same time, treating every kratom user as reckless or dishonest does not improve safety.
Safety comes from accurate labels, realistic warnings, cleaner manufacturing, appropriate testing, responsible portions, and honest conversations.
Why 7-OH Changed the Conversation
7-hydroxymitragynine—usually called 7-OH—can occur naturally in kratom at very low levels. That is different from commercial tablets and other products containing greatly elevated or synthesized concentrations.
According to the DEA, many modern commercial products contained far more 7-OH than naturally occurring botanical kratom. The agency’s current action focuses on those elevated products and related compounds rather than compliant traditional botanical material below the stated threshold.
That distinction matters.
Traditional kratom did not suddenly become identical to a highly concentrated 7-OH tablet just because both products were marketed under the same broad category.
Unfortunately, many consumers were never given a clear explanation of the difference.
They simply found a small tablet that felt predictable and effective—until tolerance increased, the product disappeared, or the legal situation changed.
If You Got in Over Your Head, You Are Not Alone
Maybe you began with an occasional tablet and slowly started using more.
Maybe your tolerance increased faster than expected.
Maybe you are spending more money than you intended.
Maybe you feel anxious between servings or uncomfortable when you try to stop.
That does not make you weak or irresponsible. It means you deserve clear information and support without humiliation.
A retail store cannot diagnose dependence or create a medical withdrawal plan. If you are struggling to reduce frequent use, experiencing significant withdrawal, or using concentrated products alongside opioids, alcohol, benzodiazepines, sedatives, or sleep medications, speak honestly with a qualified healthcare professional.
Do not hide your use because you are afraid of being judged. Your provider needs accurate information to help you safely.
A new botanical product should also not be treated as an automatic medical solution. Changing from isolated 7-OH to a full-spectrum extract may reduce exposure to the compounds being targeted, but it does not erase tolerance, dependence, or the risks associated with concentrated kratom use.

No invented equivalencies
We will not claim that a certain amount of leaf extract is equal to a certain amount of 7-OH when the chemistry is fundamentally different.
Warnings that respect the consumer
Education should be direct without treating adults like criminals or children.

“Not detected” means below the laboratory’s applicable detection limit in that tested sample. It is not the same as guaranteeing that no instrument could ever identify a trace amount.

Someone you care about may have used 7-OH or concentrated kratom without telling you.
Your first reaction may be anger, fear, or disbelief.
Try to listen before assuming the worst.
They may have started because they were uncomfortable, overwhelmed, trying to move away from another substance, or simply trusted something openly sold in a store. That does not remove the risks, but shame can make people hide their use and avoid seeking help.
You do not have to approve of every choice to support someone in making a safer next decision.
Encourage honesty. Encourage professional guidance when dependence or withdrawal is involved. Help them avoid dangerous combinations. Ask what the product actually contained rather than treating every item labeled “kratom” as identical.
